Call for Proposals – Guest edited special issues in 2021 and 2022

SOUTHEAST OF NOW: Directions in Contemporary and Modern Art in Asia believes in the value of methodological promiscuity, and is committed to supporting the diverse, heterogenous, transdisciplinary and unruly nature of discourses on and around the contemporary and modern arts of Southeast Asia.

With this in mind, we welcome proposals for guest-edited special issues of the journal, for publication during 2021 and 2022 (volumes 5 and 6).
Proposals may draw on any discipline/s that the guest editor/s deem to be relevant and rewarding.

Proposals may relate solely to Southeast Asia, or may instead focus on comparative studies from other Asian regions, such as South and Central Asia, or from Oceanic or other “southern” and “eastern” locales.

In addition to an extended abstract outlining the nature of the proposed special issue, submissions should include biographical statements for the guest editor/s as well as a provisional list of prospective contributors.

Proposals are welcome at any time before 30 January 2020 (for Volume 5), and should be sent to
